Karen Solie was born in Moose Jaw, and   grew up in southwest Saskatchewan, Canada. She is the author of three poetry collections: Short Haul Engine, Modern
and Normal
, and her latest, Pigeon, which won the Pat Lowther Award, the Trillium
Poetry Prize, and the Griffin Poetry Prize. Her The Living Option: Selected Poems
will be published by Bloodaxe Books in 2013. Her work has been published across
Canada, in the U.S., the U.K., and Europe, and has been translated into French,   German, Korean, and Dutch. An associate director for the Banff Centre’s Writing
Studio program, she lives in Toronto.
